Russia
The world’s largest country has a rich history dating beyond the era of Catherine the Great, the Mongolians, beyond even the early Slav ancestors that populated the country. As one considers the country, you are struck by the beauty of its architecture, the resilience of its people, and the vastness of its landscapes. Go beyond the history of Moscow and the delights of St. Petersburg and discover unknown Kremlins, ancient churches, old relics of the old kingdoms, and beautiful mountain landscapes. Put up at exclusive five-star hotels or beautiful cottages and dine at local restaurants. To fully appreciate Russia’s unexplored beauty, take a little risk and venture into the countryside and mountains. Wherever you choose to stop when exploring this beautiful country, a holiday in Russia won’t disappoint.
Ski in the French Alps
The world’s top tourist destination never ceases to charm. French hospitality is remarkable: classy and friendly. The French Alps, near the border of France and Italy, also provide some of the world’s best skiing experiences. Here, the Alps peak at Mont Blanc providing all year snow. The allure of beautiful white snow covering rugged peaks and hosting village-like resorts never loses its charm.
The atmosphere is unbelievable, both for luxury ski accommodation and budget tourism. Stay in a beautiful chalet in Chamonix, or head up north to Avoriaz, the unofficial snowboarding capital of the world. Around the same area, you can find Morzine, perfect beginners. If you are travelling as a family, then Les Gets will pique your interest with their child only ski runs.
Essaouira, Morocco
Essaouira is all a postcard tourist destination: beautiful beaches, artsy restaurants, lively festivals, laid back Mediterranean feel all make for a relaxed but eventful tour. If you are around in April, you can treat yourself to a vibrant Alizés, or an enthralling jazz festival in June. However, all through the year, restaurant performances and concerts abound. With so much music and festivity, it is no wonder this city is associated with some of the biggest world musicians, including Frank Zappa and even Jimmy Hendrix.
In Essaouira, go all out to enjoy yourself. Stay up late listening to music and dancing, wake up to go shopping for exotic spice shopping, dine in open air restaurants, and don’t forget to enjoy long beach walks. A holiday in Essaouira is definitely the place to feel young again.
Oman
Oman’s beauty is undeniable, yet she doesn’t have that status as a giant tourism destination. The country enjoys over 1,000 miles of coast, large considering the size of the country. The marine life is perfect for diving and snorkeling: crystal clear waters teeming with colorful sea life and not crowded.
When you’ve had your fill of the sea, head inland for scenes from another era. At the foot of the Djebel Akhdar highlands are four ancient fortresses worth seeing. Don’t limit yourself to the normal tourist circuits. Take the path less travelled and visit quiet villages still laden with local culture and be sure to try out local dishes. If the heat gets too much for you, head over to the beautiful Jabel Akhdar in the Hajar Mountain range and literally smell the flowers
Sri Lanka
The exotic beauty that bewitched Marco Polo back in the 12th century still exists in Sri Lanka. It has a rich and well documented history, dating back over 2,500 years. You can still tangibly feel the devotion to their cultural heritage as soon as you set foot in the country. The modern cities are filled with temples and shrines, open air markets, and other elements of Sri Lankan culture that will hold you in awe.
Stay in beautiful luxury hotels, or retreat to lush colonial style cottages in the tea highlands. Play golf in some of the world’s most challenging and oldest courses against the backdrop of immense beauty. Afterward, tour ancient city ruins, go sight wildlife in their jungles, and take a memorable elephant ride before heading to the beach for sun and sand.
